The gods are rallying to take down Marion, their ally and voice in the mortal worlds. She’s gotten her memories back to disastrous results. She’s destroying the faerie courts, and the rest of the universe is next. The other deities want Seth—also known as the God of Death—to stop Marion before she breaks something that can’t be fixed.
Unfortunately, when Marion looks at Seth with those eyes and insists that she’s not doing anything wrong, he wants to believe her. Marion claims she isn’t trying to rewrite history. She’s protecting it.
Seth wants to trust Marion. It’s only the universe that’s at stake, after all. And some women are worth shattering worlds over…
The final chapter in New York Times Bestselling Author SM Reine's Mage Craft series.

Well I’m done and I’m so glad because it needed to be over. This is one of those instances that you wonder if the author had any idea of where they wanted the story to go in the end when they set out. At the end of a series I really like for most things to be wrapped up but a lot of the stuff that happened in the first 2-3 books didn’t seem to carry over well in the end.
Marion has never been my favorite character but I could at least sympathize with her a little in a few of the books. However in this when we learn her true motivations I just wasn’t floored by them and I really didn’t get them or the lengths she was willing to go to for them.
King Konig is the worst and no matter how much I didn’t love Marion he gets the biggest jerk award for the series and I was happy with his fate at the end of this.
The shining moment for this book for me didn’t even belong to the main characters but to Arawn a.k.a. sociopathic demon and Charity the vampire revenant. Weirdest love story ever really, but it was almost reading this series just for this.
***He bent over the tattoo chair and kissed her. Arawn tasted like rotten meat. His tongue was slimy, like the maggots he so often tattooed on members of his gang. His teeth had edges like razors.
Charity loved it.
She loved him***
Demon love is a real thing and those two have it in spades.
Seth, well as much as I wanted him to get his happily ever after I also believed he could do better. Still you have to respect a guy that will go through everything he did for the woman he has chosen to love.
***“I told you that you’d one day meet someone worth shattering universes over, didn’t I?”***
There are a few really cool moments in this and I enjoyed quite a few of the side characters. I was surprised by how much I really liked Able once we got to spend some time with him. The techie Fae of the Hardwicks were a delightful surprise as well but there were at least 2-3 PoVs I didn’t care about at all so that made parts of the entire series really drag actually.
In the end I liked the epilogue and thought it was fitting. For me there were things that just didn’t resolve well from book 1 to book 5 and I wish they would have been fleshed out better. Perhaps I’ll read Elise’s story one day. I’m glad I read it to the end to know everything but this was the hardest series for me to complete in a long time.

Cast in Godfire An Urban Fantasy Romance The Mage Craft Series Book 5 eBook SM Reine Reviews
The end of a series is always both a triumph and and a downer. After so many books there are still a few loose ends, however, the climax has been reached and the rest is commentary. This is a story line about a woman who literally has a mind and ability to throw fire. She comes to realize at the end of the series that to be almost self sufficient is her greatest achievement. The new pantheon of God's, kings, Queens, avatars and the like are all related. Like any family it has growing problems.
Angels, demons, seelie and unseelie, all the magic and gods of the world, can't stop Marion from her plans to rule the worlds. So who does save her from herself?
In this last episode of the Magecraft series, we find that Marion has been working hard at her magic behind the scenes to place herself above all others, including her husband the king. He has other plans that don't include Marion. For every kingdom he takes, his magic grows stronger and his love of himself, well let's just say he likes himself a lot. And Marion, she is in the way of his plans to get rid of her and her Death God lover. Who will save Marion and the worlds too? Stay tuned to this Author. She will rock your worlds!
No spoilers. )
This is the absolute best conclusion this series could have had. I stayed up way too late into an epic ice storm raging through Missouri to finish it. No power, praying the charge on my kindle lasted long enough that I didn't have to go start the car to plug it in so I could finish the book.
Great job as always.
This is the final book of the series. This story was a sad and depressing one as so many humans, demons, seelie, unseelie, dryads, hounds, Kings and Queens die. The kingdoms of the Summer, Spring, Autumn and Winter Courts nearly are destroyed. Marion and Seth, as well as so many other characters, go through times of mistrust and rightly so. I guess I was hoping things would go well for Konig and Marion rather then her with Seth/Death. To be truly honest I felt bad for the young Prince in the very beginning and off and on throughout the story, as he was a pawn in the hands of evil. I felt his violence was the product of other peoples manipulation of him, which Marion actually admitted to. She is no heroine to me and I never trusted her though out the entire series. There are a few things left hanging at the end, so let that be a warning.

As much as I loved following Marion’s story and could not wait to see how it all ended, now that is has, I am sad to see it come to an end. The book (and the entire series) was fantastic and did not disappoint. There were twists and turns throughout, some of which I saw coming, some I did not. That is part of what makes this story so fantastic, you start to think ahead and what you think will happen next then it goes on a 45 degree slant and suddenly you are left saying “what just happened”, very intriguing! Ms. Reine sucks you in from beginning to end.
I had a love/hate relationship with several characters in this series, one minute I was rooting for them to have a happy ending, the next I was ready for them to go away. On the flip side, there were characters that I thought I hated but secretly felt bad when their storyline came to a tragic end.
From the lying and deceit to the love and honor, this book gets your attention and keeps it. Reading faster and faster, I could not wait to get to the next chapter, yet found myself wanting to slow down and was dreading getting to the end.
I hope that even though Marian’s story and the Mage Craft Series are over, that we have not seen or read the last of some of these characters. Knowing S,M. Reine, and how her universe works we will hear their names again, whether it is just a small glimpse of what they are doing in the future or if they play a bigger role in some other series (Dana’s perhaps hint hint!).
If you have not started this series and are a fan of S/M. Reine or if you love urban fantasies, then it is a must read!
